Hello Everyone,
okay here are my 2 questions……
1) i bought a new system like 2 weeks back ,it has a amd64 x2 6400(the processor came with a heatsink),motherboard is ga-ma74gm-s2,4gb ddr2 800mhz,320 gb seagate hdd,LG dvd writer,9500GT graphics card
now my problem is at first when i bought the system, the shop guy gave me a 400w smps(or psu) to go with the system….but after playing the serious sam 2 game in the system for about 2 hrs the smpu(or psu) got burnt,so i go back to the shop guy and ask him what happened….then he gave me a new 400w smps….then again the same happens and smps burns….but the second time when smps got burnt….it damaged my motherboard too….!!!!(so much for gigabyte motherboards…and they sell their boards claiming they are ultra durable…WTF…..!!!) and my board is sent to the factory for repair (as it still is in warrenty period the board got sent to a factory and usually they take1 week to return the board…if they are unable to repair the board they will provide a replacement board ,god know if thats a new one or a old board they will give as a replacement…..) so i am waiting for my board to return…..in the mean time just to be carefull..i bought a 500w smps so that if its a power releated problem, then it will be taken care of by the 500w smps…but recently i was reading thru some of the reviews of amd64 x2 6400 and i came to know that the stock heatsink given along with the processor is not a good one….and it cant handle the heat given off by this processor…(WTF….i thought amd people had some brains becuz their products are the best bang for the buk…then y give a shitty heatsink for a powerfull processor)….so now i am thinking that the problem was not that of the power but might be of the heat…well what do u guys think…i have described my problem…what might be the problem here….and oh….my shop guy is a piece of ****..(his after sales service is worst…i believe he doesnt even has a decent knowledge about the computers….i just bought the system from him because he had the cheapest rates in all of the Market..so plz dont advice me to consult the guy who sold me this system) so if u believe that my problem is that of the heat then plz kingly suggest a decent specs of a heatsink that will kill the heat on the processor…i mean what should be the RPM of the fan and how much mm should the fan be….and also i would like to know how can one check the temp of a pc at a given time……because when in bios screen the processor is at minimum usage…so it should only show its lowest heat temp….but is there a way to know how hot the processor is actually is at full load…????
and now my second problem is
2) i have a lcd monitor with vga and dvi-d ,i know that dvi-d offers more clarity that vga, so i have a external tv-tuner box and my system…..i am looking for a monitor switch box….that outputs dvi-d and takes inputs vga & dvi-d..(i dont mind if its dvi-i instead of dvi-d…cuz dvi-i supports both dvi-a & dvi-d,atleast thats what i heard..)
if possible name a switch box that automatic or if it has a remote to switch screens…
THNX for ur patience for reading……..

Ok your problems do not sound fun and it could be a combination of the heat and the low power for the one problem. here is a link to a good heat sink for your cpu. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/… you will need to get thermal paste as well. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/… when applying the paste add a small amount to the under side of the heat sink and spread it with your finger to cover the whole surface of the heat sink. some heat sinks come with a thermal paste on them, but this is a very low grade and it is better to wipe it off and add your own. as for the monitor go to a better computer store and ask for a vga to dvi adapter. your video card and monitor can handle the conversion them selves.
