Heh. How long has Windows had hibernate? Windows 2000, for sure. I think NT4 had it and even before that, many Win95 and Win98 laptops had a BIOS-based hibernation-like “Suspend to Disk” feature built right in as long as you had the hibernation partition on the HD. Great job, Apple! Keep innovating!

******EASIER WAY WITHOUT PULLING OUT BATTERY********* VID ON MY CHANNEL

  3. thiklpet says:

yeah, it really seems to be that way. It’s a shame that doesn’t work the same way like with windows. That’s one thing that really bothers me about my mac.

  4. pawnoir says:

  5. Andrewterrorist says:

I once had a handy dandy hand shandy off Gandhi while Andy Pandy, Handy Andy and John Candy watched.

  8. foxrider08 says:

wow they figured out how to hibernate. good job apple. windows gets frilly visual cues from OSX, and OSX gets concrete useful cues from windows. it all works out.

  9. JayAru101 says:

We only act like that because all of a sudden Mac users are like Windows sucks! Macs are soo awesome blah blah bet you can’t do that on a pc? So we feel like we got to stand up for our Windows<3 They have flaws but Macs do too. I’ve been on my sisters MacPro w/e and froze while I was simple dling something.

  10. thecolmexguy says:

can this be used with an imac as well.

I mean there is widget, but is that safe?

  11. Stefanaat says:

Hibernation is nothing new, but the way this is done on the MacBook is. The computer saves the session to the harddrive in case the power should run out. However, if there is sufficient battery (or AC power) it will use the RAM to instantly restore the session.

Shortly, it’s a backup feature in case of power failure. You will still use the instant wake-up most of the time, in which case you’ll never know this feature exists.

  15. pointless14 says:

so basically its hibernation just spelt differently

  16. timg455 says:

That is why they have settings, you use them and you can actually customize your machine do do what you want it to.

  17. MisterNetHead says:

    Congrats…. your mac can hibernate….

  18. 3rogue says:

wow, this hasn’t been around for a long time with windows…. nope

  19. meisinscotland says:

Oh I see… Thanks for the HU.

  20. HenryKorol says:

It’s not a macbook feature, afaik it’s a feature of OSX that works on every mac :)

  21. Pedroskini says:

rayperez777: I totally agree with you. My hard drive just totally crashed on my MacBook Pro 3 days ago. Without any warnings about this feature, I had no idea I could affect the hard drive and lose all my data due to this feature. I love Apple, but this really is a slap on the face of us customers.

  22. meisinscotland says:

Wow, cool feature. Damn, I think I’m gonna get one o’ these MacBooks.

  23. rayperez777 says:

i’d recommend disabling this feature in terminal. i and a lot of other people have lost their hard drive because we didn’t know that it was writing to the hard drive after we shut it. the motion sensor does not function while it is writing safe sleep. be warned. apple probably buried the warning, i never saw it.

  24. rayperez777 says:

this is a retarded feature that no one warns you about when you buy the machine. normal people close the machine and immediately move it off their laps or put it away. my 2 gb ram macbook takes over 30 seconds to sleep. moving it while the nifty safe sleep kicks in can destroy the hard. id rather chance losing the sessions ram than all the data on my hard drive. has happened to me and to a lot of other people. thanks for the warning apple.

  25. rcnitrotrucks says:

  31. tubitician says:

Hi. Yes, as long as the DV5 has Vista or Windows 7. It won’t work with it if it’s running XP. Hope that helps. JR

  32. javaboyee says:

    can i use a tuner with a DV5?

  33. Rblxstudio says:

@MissPressPlay the hp tv tuner is it, unless you want to watch home cable, then you need a coaxial cable.

  34. tubitician says:

Sorry for the delay. Yes, it takes the RC/composite cable GetAdapters includes with every tuner. JR

  35. MissPressPlay says:

what new equipment do i need to buy to do this? the hp tv tuner?

will i already be able to find the other cables around my tv?

    thanks in advance.

  36. gijzzzdude says:

@tubitician So, from the side, I can see two holes in the TV-tuner. A round one and an rectangle-shaped one. The coaxial can’t get in one of these directly. Should there be a cable between them, and if so, which?

    Thanks in advance :)

  37. gijzzzdude says:

    @tubitician Thanks :)

  38. tubitician says:

You need the little cable that you can see in the video that handles audio and video via rCA connections. You need a cable to go from the back of the TV to the little connector cable that attaches to the tuner card. I have a6 foot cable I can kick in free from GetAdapters, but i don’t have anything longer. Thanks for watching. JR

  39. gijzzzdude says:

So, the analog cable that you’d normally put in the back of your TV, can’t be stuck directly into the HP Digital/Analog TV-Tuner, right? It does need sort of a transition cable, doesn’t it? Thanks in advance for your response :-) .

  40. tubitician says:

Yes, it definitely works with the dv6 models as long as the DV6 is running Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating system. The GetAdapters website has the tuner with different options and you get free extras too. JR

  41. gaurangipandit1985 says:

@tubitician I have Hp dv6 series entertainment notebook Pc(laptop) can I use tv tuner card with it? and how ?please help

  42. gaurangipandit1985 says:

I have Hp dv6 laptop can I use tv tuner card with it?

  43. volmiro says:

It was a quick reply. Thank You. I searched everywhere, I could not find it. I discussed HP guys and BestBuy guys about it. I could not get a result. GetAdapters website has to move up in Google Search.

  44. tubitician says:

GetAdapters website has it under the tuner accessories section. JR

  45. volmiro says:

Hi, I need that coaxial RF adapter. I lost mine. Do you know that where can I find it? HP does not have it!

  46. N0tsobad says:

does this catch all the channels that you would get with your cable or dish? or are some channels blocked?

  47. AleseaStokesene38 says:

hmzi really need somebody to Well yah should find out

  48. andru64 says:

can we get digital signal with this card??? it only picks up analog???

  49. wweman11 says:

I have comcast cable and it’s straight through the wire.

I don’t need to have the digital adapter so would this set up you have right now still work?

Or how would we do it with cable?

  50. tubitician says:

No. you just need to have a laptop with an expresscard 54 slot, running Vista or Windows 7; and then it will pick up analog or digital TV signals for free out of the air using the antenna you can get with the card from GetAdapters. JR
